Job Title: Senior Production Planner

The Senior Production Planner is responsible for executing the daily production planning and order management activities required to support on-time delivery, production schedule adherence, and inventory optimization. This role serves as the primary liaison between Production, Procurement, Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Customer Service to ensure material and capacity constraints are identified and resolved proactively.
The Senior Production Planner owns the day-to-day management of production orders, shortage resolution, expedite requests, and late-order recovery activities while supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the planning and scheduling process.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Order Management
- Review, release, and maintain production orders in Oracle
- Ensure production dates, priorities, and quantities accurately reflect customer requirements and manufacturing capacity.
Shortage Management
- Conduct daily material shortage reviews.
- Partner with Procurement to resolve material constraints.
- Escalate critical shortages impacting customer deliveries.
- Validate material availability prior to releasing orders.
On-Time Delivery Improvement
- Own daily and weekly late-order reviews.
- Develop and maintain recovery plans for past-due customer orders.
- Coordinate corrective actions with functional departments.
- Track and report root causes impacting OTD performance.
Cross-Functional Communication
- Serve as the primary planning contact for Production Supervisors and manufacturing teams.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Quality on product holds, rework, and material disposition.
- Support Customer Service with order status and expedite requests.
Continuous Improvement
- Support process improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, ERP utilization, and inventory management.
- Participate in Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing activities.
- Help establish planning KPIs and reporting tools.
Requirements & skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of Production Planning, Production Control, Scheduling, or Materials Management experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs
- Experience utilizing ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Power Query, dashboard creation, conditional formatting, and large dataset analysis required.
- Bilingual English and Spanish.
Desired Qualifications:
- APICS / ASCM CPIM certification.
- Must have the ability to multitask with strong time/priority management skills.
- Experience supporting customer-driven production environments.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
