Job Title: Senior CMM and Dimensional Engineer

We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Senior CMM & Dimensional Engineer to lead precision inspection and metrology efforts for complex aerospace components. This role is critical in ensuring dimensional accuracy, quality compliance, and continuous improvement across our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in CMM programming (preferably with PC-DMIS), a strong understanding of GD&T, and hands-on experience with advanced inspection equipment.
Key Responsibilities
CMM Programming & Inspection:
- Develop, validate, and maintain CMM programs using PC-DMIS or equivalent software for complex aerospace components.
- Perform first article inspections (FAI), in-process, and final inspections using CMM and other precision measurement tools.
- Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T to create accurate and efficient inspection routines.
- Troubleshoot and optimize CMM programs for repeatability, accuracy, and cycle time reduction.
Equipment & Process Management:
- Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and functionality of all dimensional inspection equipment including CMMs, height gauges, micrometers, calipers, and optical systems.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment-related issues.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve equipment downtime and performance issues.
Quality & Compliance:
- Support AS9100 and NADCAP compliance through robust dimensional inspection processes.
- Maintain traceability and documentation of inspection results in accordance with aerospace quality standards.
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing technical expertise on dimensional inspection processes.
Continuous Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in metrology and inspection processes.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians in CMM programming and dimensional inspection best practices.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance inspection capabilities.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in CMM programming and dimensional inspection in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
- Proficiency in PC-DMIS or equivalent CMM software.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and blueprint reading.
- Experience with heat exchanger components or similar complex geometries.
Preferred:
- Experience with Hexagon CMM systems.
- Familiarity with MSA, SPC, and statistical analysis tools.
- Knowledge of AS9102 FAI requirements and aerospace quality systems.
