Job Description:
The ideal candidate is an experienced quality leader with a strong background in manufacturing environments, quality systems, customer requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives. This individual will be responsible for leading the Quality department, driving quality excellence across the organization, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all Quality Department activities across the manufacturing facility.
- Provide guidance and support to functional areas regarding customer quality expectations and company quality requirements.
- Ensure readiness of transferred and new production lines regarding internal and external quality documentation requirements.
- Lead quality-related activities during validation of new products, processes, and production lines.
- Review and ensure proper implementation of internal and external document changes.
- Ensure active participation of quality personnel in product and process validations.
- Coordinate and schedule internal, customer, and certification audits.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and approval of work methods and quality procedures.
- Establish and maintain systems for identification, segregation, and disposition of non-conforming materials.
- Develop and implement process control methodologies to reduce internal and external nonconformities.
- Support the establishment of manufacturing standards and customer quality requirements.
- Ensure compliance with customer-approved processes and manage deviation approvals when required.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective action activities utilizing quality tools such as Pareto analysis, 8D, and statistical methodologies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout manufacturing and support functions.
- Support Manufacturing in customer complaint resolution and cross-functional problem-solving activities.
- Monitor and control departmental budgets and quality-related expenditures.
- Coordinate implementation and maintenance of the company Quality Management System.
- Initiate actions to prevent quality issues related to products, processes, or systems, including authority to stop production when necessary.
- Represent customer requirements internally in accordance with applicable quality standards.
- Collaborate with leadership teams to establish company policies, operational procedures, and strategic objectives.
- Manage supplier quality concerns and collaborate with suppliers to improve quality performance.
- Develop and communicate quality performance metrics, reports, and action plans.
- Ensure proper management of customer returns, complaints, and rejection investigations.
- Lead, coach, develop, and train quality personnel to achieve organizational objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in Quality Management within a manufacturing environment, including leadership responsibility for quality teams, customer quality, supplier quality, and quality systems.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems and manufacturing quality practices.
- Experience leading internal, customer, and certification audits.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of process analysis, process evaluation techniques, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools.
- Effective leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- English and Spanish bilingual.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in aerospace, electronics, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent quality management standards.
- Experience with supplier quality management and quality performance metrics.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience leading cross-functional quality improvement projects.
- Strong customer-facing experience related to quality issues and audits.
