Job Description: 

The Quality Manager directs, trains, and coaches employees around quality practices and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in meeting the quality needs and expectations of the business and customers.  Responsible for establishing strategic plans, policies, and procedures in collaboration with other leaders so quality improvement efforts will meet or exceed internal and external customers’ needs and expectations, including maintaining QMS which fulfills the requirements of the ISO 9001 standards, and driving Continuous Improvement throughout assigned facilities.

 

What you will do:

  • Lead the QA activities in conjunction with and collaboration with various departments (engineering, operations, product management, etc.) to support world-class manufacturing operations.

  • Evaluate the performance of current QMS and develop additional or alternative Continuous Improvement initiatives to create a unified QMS across the business, with regular maintenance and improvements to stay ahead of customer and market expectations.

  • Promote and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers.  Visit facilities regularly to maintain communications and expectations.

  • Responsible for Quality Management System (QMS) upkeep, deployment, adherence, and improvement in order to maintain ISO 9001 compliance.

  • Maintain an understanding of current ISO requirements.

  • Coordinate and direct sites’ participation during preventative and regulatory compliance, customer, and internal audits.

  • Interface with customers and vendors to analyze field failures in order to identify root cause, containment, and make corrective actions through quality planning initiatives and process improvements.

  • Direct implementation and follow-up of systematic corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) by reviewing the adequacy of root cause analysis, corrections, corrective actions, preventative actions, and effectiveness.

  • Develop, maintain, and report internal quality metrics and trend analysis to management such as but not limited to: QE project execution, deviations, CAPA, customer complaints, and non-conforming material.

  • Proactively identify areas where improvements in product and process quality can be made by monitoring quality metrics and analyzing underlying data (customer returns, scrap rates, on-time deliveries and production productivity, etc.).

  • Lead Six Sigma teams in the development and implementation of identified product and process improvements to deliver Customer Returns and scrap reductions per annual goals.

  • Provide statistical analysis in support of company production and quality objectives.

  • Work collaboratively with Operations and Engineering management to ensure company goals for on-time delivery, product quality, and workplace safety are being met.

  • Manage and distribute the workload within the QA department.

  • Ensure timely disposition of non-conforming materials.

  • Ensure timely response and closure of RMA’s.

 

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (ME, EE, IE) required.

  • 5+ years of direct work experience in Quality Assurance in a technical and/or manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience.

  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.

  • Must have a demonstrated track record of accomplishments in a manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent organizational and communications skills across cultures and businesses.

  • Strong ability to organize, retain, and manage multiple tasks required for the role.

  • Mechanical aptitude required; ability to understand workings of motors, leadscrews, and associated manufacturing processes.

  • Proficient in current professional software – MS Office, ERP/MRP, statistical analysis software and SPC experience (MiniTab).

  • Ability to read and understand a variety of technical documents (blueprints, GD&T ANSI) required.

  • Proficiency in IQ/OQ/PQ a plus.

  • Familiarity with Scientific Injection Molding a plus.

  • Must have the ability to travel domestically and internationally ~<5%.

  • Proactive approach to product, process, and people improvements required for success in the role.

  • Fluency in Spanish and English required.
