Job Description: 

The Molding Engineer is responsible for developing, validating, improving, and sustaining molding processes to ensure product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. This position works closely with Production, Quality, Tooling, Maintenance, and Product Development teams to support new product introductions, process transfers, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Responsibilities 

  • Establish, implement, monitor, and improve the procedures from injection processes.
  • Coordinate process validations and process adjustments through IQ, OQ & PQ.
  • Plan and implement activities or projects to reduce down times due to maintenance and/or changes over.
  • Control KPI’s from process department, establish and follow up work plans to accomplish department goals
  • Establish control methods on parameters that allow keep the stability on the process to accomplish Production goals and scrap limits.
  • Elaborate troubleshooting of the defects on molding process.
  • Responsible that his subordinates follow the work instructions and properly fill up the stablished records.
  • Elaborate Process Instructions for all molding processes.
  • Review of tooling designs and as needed propose tool design modifications
  • As needed, join project team conference calls to summarize issues with the tooling and suggest improvement options
  • Coordinate process audits every change over to ensure the proper operation start.
  • Elaborate and update Control Plan and PFMEA’s.

 

Requirements

  • Engineering degree
  • 4 years experience on molding injection area
  • Experience on leading technical personnel
  • Advanced knowledge on Molding Injection processes.(Is a must)
  • Knowledge in the operation of vertical injection machines and peripheral equipment such as dryers, thermoregulators and resin loaders.
  • Knowledge in scientific molding method (preferrable)
  • Knowledge on Engineering of resins
  • Knowledge of tooling design
  • Ability to review tooling CAD via Solidworks or Creo
  • Proficient on MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Able to stablish business conversations in English
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

 

The Molding Engineer position must have

  • Experience with injection molding process development and optimization.
  • Knowledge of Scientific Molding, SPC, PFMEA, and process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Experience supporting new product introductions and process transfers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot molding processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 and FDA regulations.
  • Experience with automation and tooling improvements is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • English/Spanish bilingual as a must.
  • May require up to 10% travel.
