Job Description: 

The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of materials flow and maintaining accuracy and control of inventory. This role ensures that procurement, planning, scheduling, warehousing, and inventory management processes effectively support on-time customer delivery. The position also drives operational improvements and leads materials-related teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, and manage materials management activities including procurement, inventory control, planning, and warehousing.
  • Develop and execute production planning strategies aligned with customer demand.
  • Implement best practices for inventory, forecasting, purchasing, and materials processes.
  • Monitor delivery performance and communicate risks proactively.
  • Analyze forecasts and historical data to support production plans.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts and control systems.
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Finance.
  • Lead and develop purchasing, planning, and warehouse teams.
  • Manage supplier relationships.
  • Support audits and compliance requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in materials management within manufacturing.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Leadership experience in supply chain operations.
  • High Mix / Low volume experience
  • ERP/MRP systems knowledge (Oracle preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
  • Materials planning, purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Inventory control methods (Kanban, cycle counting, safety stock).
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge preferred.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • ISO 9000 knowledge.
  • CPIM certification preferred.
