Job Title: Hand Soldering Assembly Technician

The position supports multiple production areas by performing manual assembly operations including cable preparation, soldering, and finishing tasks. This role requires flexibility, strong diligence, and the ability to work across different processes to meet production and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
• Perform hand soldering of electronic components and wire connections according to work instructions and IPC standards.
• Cut, strip, and prepare cables and wires to specified lengths and requirements.
• Perform crimping operations using approved tools and processes.
• Apply masking, insulation, and protective materials as required.
• Assemble components, subassemblies, and cable harnesses.
• Support multiple workstations as a floater, adapting to different tasks as needed.
• Inspect work for defects (solder quality, crimps, wire prep) and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Perform basic rework and touch-up of assemblies.
• Follow ESD, safety, and workmanship standards at all times.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and clean work area (5S)
• Accurately complete production documentation and traceability requirements
• Identify process issues and communicate to supervisors or quality team.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Electronics or related technical field.
- 1–3+ years of experience in electronic assembly or manufacturing environments.
- Experience in cable harness assembly and routing.
- Knowledge of crimp validation methods and pull testing.
- Proficient in hand soldering techniques (wire-to-wire, wire-to-terminal, PCB).
- Skilled in cable preparation processes: cutting, stripping, tinning, and routing.
- Experience using crimping tools and terminals (open barrel, closed barrel, connectors).
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Understanding of electronic components and materials (wires, connectors, terminals, insulation).
- Basic inspection skills, including defect identification in solder joints, crimps, and assemblies.
- Familiarity with rework and repair processes.
- Experience with hand tools and assembly equipment (soldering iron, wire strippers, cutters, crimpers).
- Knowledge of ESD handling procedures and controlled environments.
- Ability to meet takt time and production performance standards.
- IPC certification preferred (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or IPC/WHMA-A-620).
