Job Description: 

The Buyer is responsible for procurement activities of electronic components, metals, fabricated parts, and assemblies to support manufacturing of programmable power supplies in a high-mix environment. This role ensures materials are purchased and delivered on time to support production schedules while following company purchasing and supply chain procedures.

 

Responsibilities

  • Place purchase orders for materials, components, and services required to support production and forecast demand.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and follow up on open orders to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Support negotiations with suppliers regarding pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
  • Assist in cost reduction and inventory management initiatives.
  • Work with internal teams to resolve material shortages and supply issues affecting production.
  • Review MRP recommendations and convert requirements into purchase orders.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Warehouse, and Production teams to support material availability.
  • Respond to daily shortage reports and take appropriate actions to minimize production interruptions.
  • Process supplier returns, replacements, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist Accounts Payable in resolving invoice discrepancies and supplier payment issues.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to support operational objectives.
  • Track and communicate supplier performance metrics and delivery commitments.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience purchasing electronic components, metals, fabricated parts, or related materials preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced English communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems; Navision, Oracle, or ManMan experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs.
  • The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • APICS, CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certifications are a plus.
