Job Description: 

As the Buyer/Planner, you will be responsible for controling the manufacturing schedule for operations scheduling machines, materials, and staffing to meet customer requirements. You will prepare daily and weekly schedules and will communicate regularly with Sales, Material Control, and Production staff to adjust schedules to accommodate changes in customer priority, machine availability, material availability, or staffing.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide communication link between sales demand and production.

  • Participate in a daily meeting with operations group outlining the schedule and special activities that are expected in that day.

  • Prioritize activities for operations group when schedule conflicts arise and notify sales of impact to customer expectations.

  • Ensure upcoming needs are visible and reviewable by the rest of the organization.

  • Enter Purchase Orders received from Sales into production schedule.

  • Coordinate with Engineering and Supervisors to allocate machine time and trained operator time using available capacity of both to meet customer due date request.

  • Allocate machine time to maintenance and engineering activities (preventive maintenance, moves, installations, etc.)

  • Provide lead-times back to Sales on entered Purchase Orders.

  • Generate proposed solutions to expedite requests, computing the impact of each solution proposal offered.  Reports requests and proposals to supervisor.

  • Ensure that all documents needed for production build, packaging, and/or shipment are available and easily accessible.

  • Prepare and submit PO’s status and performance reports.

 

Position requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Advanced English

  • MS-Office & Excel XP or later experience

  • APICS training (plus)

  • Strong familiarized with production processes knowledge

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma

  • Proven planning experience: MPS generation, Production Line Schedule, Forecasting, Demand tracking and Inventory control for JIT & SS customers
