Job Description:

The company has a solid reputation in the aerospace industry for providing a broad range of services to international and regional airlines, helicopter operators and airframe manufacturers. Conducting business from three sites in the United Kingdom, AEM offers specialist services for in excess of 5,000 components over a variety of aircraft systems with capabilities covering aircraft windings, electrical power, hydraulic components, landing gear and safety equipment. We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to joing our team at our Ramsgate site.

 

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for defining and implementing repair and overhaul processes that align with product specifications and support workshop performance goals. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sustaining Engineering

  • Oversee the maintenance of internal technical records
  • Provide technical support during equipment breakdowns or non-conformances, including troubleshooting and root cause investigation fault-finding assistance.

Tooling & Equipment

  • Evaluate current product designs to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyse failure modes from non-conformance investigation reports, customer feedback, and other available data to inform design enhancements.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities in materials, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
  • Collaborate with procurement and cross-functional teams to source cost-effective alternatives.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Conduct technical evaluations of Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) and support repair and overhaul of aircraft components and systems.
  • Assess tooling, test rig requirements, existing facility compatibility, and health and safety considerations for repair activities.
  • Develop process flow diagrams and project plans to support repair and overhaul operations.
  • Validate test capabilities through experiments involving hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Define logical sequences for repair and overhaul procedures, including test documentation, work instructions, and handover processes from engineering to operations. 

 

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline (HNC/HND acceptable with extensive experience).
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow / Green Belt (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Understands the importance of following instructions closely, completing compliance documentation accurately and knows when to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Good organisation skills with a good eye for detail, able to manage own workload to meet deadlines, even in a fast-paced and changeable environment.
  • Strong organisational and project planning skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, and innovative in approach.
  • Focused on cost efficiency and working within set budgets.
  • Good IT skills across MS Office and CAD, able to learn other company systems quickly
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings and documentation
