We are seeking a highly-skilled and experienced Senior FPGA Design Engineer for our imaging and analytical products. This dual-role position requires not only technical expertise in FPGA design and implementation but also leadership capabilities to manage and guide many of our electrical engineering activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing FPGAs for high performance embedded systems and for working closely with the Software and Hardware groups on the FPGA designs. Furthermore, this individual will act to ensure seamless overall project execution and to foster a collaborative team environment. This position will be based out of Pleasanton, CA office.

The primary function of this role will be as a FPGA designer on complex, digital imaging systems including architecture, FPGA design, hardware design, exploration of technology, system performance and specification for design and test. The incumbent will also be responsible for defining system requirements and integration.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

FPGA logic design with SystemVerilog and VHDL, synthesis and layout

Experience with Vivado, Quartus and QuestaSim and timing closure

Ability to architect systems and hardware and map algorithms to requirements for FPGAs

Simulation at device and system level in an UVM environment

Ability to architect hardware platforms and high-speed serial interfaces

Experience with high-performance memory architectures such as DDR4+ and HBM2
-
Experience with microarchitecture, bandwidth requirements and implementation thereof

Experience with SoCs and microprocessor peripherals such as Ethernet, USB, PCIe G4+, UARTS, I2C, SPI, JESD204b, Optical transports etc.

Strong comfort level working in a lab environment using digital embedded system debug tools (ICE, logic analyzers, JTAG, Oscilloscopes)

Must be able to produce detailed documentation and have excellent communication skills
DESIRABLE SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:

WAN, LAN, Sockets, TCP/IP communications

Knowledge of image sensor data processing a plus

Knowledge of high-performance board design and layout

Project management or team-leadership.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

BS in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university, MS degree is a plus

6+ years of FPGA and hardware development experience
