The Electrical Engineer (NPD) position at Process Instruments is a key contributor to the Electrical Engineering discipline within the New Product Development group that designs, develops, and validates new products to serve many applications for customers of various industries, including green energy, semiconductor, and sulfur recovery. This role requires an engineer who is technically savvy, collaborative, and versatile to be a member of a team that delivers product solutions on time and on budget. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As a technical member of a cross-functional new product development team, design and develop electronics and related software platforms for the New Product Development group, and participate in trainings, customer visits, and other continuous learning and development activities
- Contribute to the maintenance and execution of the business’ New Product Development process, following it consistently for all projects
- Participate in the origination of new product development programs by contributing to the development of proposals and design specifications
- Develop, monitor, and update applicable tasks within product development program schedules, communicating progress, updates, and changes to the Manager, New Product Development
- Ensure delivery of complete documentation packages for all assigned projects, including PCB manufacturing documents, engineering change notices, and software release notes
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field
- Up to 3 years of relevant experience
- Exposure to product development projects that include the design of PCB circuits, PCB layouts, software, and interconnect cables and wiring harnesses
- Willingness to work within cross functional teams to deliver projects on time and on budget, prototyping, validation of new designs, and system software/electrical testing
MOST CHALLENGING PART OF THE JOB:
- Productizing new and emerging precision measurement technologies into fully documented manufacturable packages in a timely manner
- Mitigating obsolescence and supply chain risk in new PCB designs to ensure consistent manufacturing and performance
- Managing risk and developing contingencies to minimize schedule and cost impacts
