POSITION SUMMARY
The VA/VE Engineer is responsible for supporting product redesign efforts, cost reduction initiatives, and manufacturing optimization efforts through Value Analysis and Value Engineering methodologies. This role focuses on identifying opportunities to improve product value by reducing cost, enhancing functionality, and maintaining or improving quality. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams including New Product Development (NPD) Engineering, Operations, and Procurement to implement innovative solutions in support of overall business goals. The Engineering group at Process Instruments is team-oriented, genuine, and responsible, creating a culture for team members who are hands-on and results-driven to impact the business in a positive way.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work collaboratively with NPD at various stages of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and lead portions of the product hand-off to Operations to ensure a smooth transition
- Assist in conducting VA/VE studies on existing products and new designs to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
- Collect and analyze data related to material costs, manufacturing processes, and product performance.
- Support brainstorming sessions and idea generation for cost reduction and value improvement.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for VA/VE projects, including technical documentation, reports, presentations, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to evaluate alternative materials,components, and processes.
- Monitor results of implemented VA/VE changes and track cost savings achieved.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Internship or coursework related to product design, cost analysis, or manufacturing preferred.
- General knowledge of manufacturing techniques and technologies, including but not limited to ERP systems, machining, electro-mechanical assembly, and validation testing of system specifications.
- General knowledge of the engineering design and documentation process, including but not limited to bills of material, routing sequences, detail drawings, GD&T, assembly drawings, and work instructions/control plans.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Proficient in Solidworks and AutoCAD, or equivalent 2D and 3D CAD tools
- Taking ownership of tasks, a hands-on approach, and a strong attention to detail
