MOST CHALLENGING PART OF THE JOB
The biggest challenge is managing planning for multiple complex product lines in a high-mix, low-volume environment. This means:
- Competing Priorities: Coordinating schedules across diverse products with different lead times, engineering requirements, and customer deadlines.
- Supply Chain Volatility: Navigating material shortages, supplier delays, and global logistics issues while maintaining on-time delivery.
Dynamic Demand: Responding quickly to changes in customer orders, forecast variability, and urgent requests without disrupting production flow. - Cross-Functional Alignment: Ensuring Operations, Procurement, Engineering, and Customer Service are aligned when priorities shift.
Risk Management: Anticipating bottlenecks and proactively mitigating risks before they impact delivery performance. - The Planner must think strategically while acting tactically, making real-time decisions that balance customer satisfaction, cost efficiency, and operational stability.
