POSITION SUMMARY
The Compliance Engineer position at Process Instruments plays a key role in ensuring the compliance of products with applicable EMC, HAZLOC, and other regulatory requirements. In ensuring this compliance, coordination and collaboration with internal engineering teams, as well as external third-party agencies, is required. Working across all engineering functions, this role requires an inquisitive engineer who possesses a diverse skillset and is willing to solve complex problems in a creative way. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with an interdisciplinary product development team to support and ensure mechanical and electrical designs are compliant with applicable EMC, HAZLOC, and general safety requirements
• Provide support to all engineering departments, operations, sales, and aftermarket service for issues involving EMC, HAZLOC, and general safety requirements for all products
• Coordinate and communicate with third party agencies to complete relevant compliance testing activities, and lead efforts to negotiate schedule, scope, and price
• Lead and/or support the creation of product-related documentation, such as drawings, manuals, and labels, to ensure accurate communication of EMC, HAZLOC, and general safety ratings
• Contribute to group development through the creation and delivery of training material
• Maintain compliance files for all products, assist with customer factory acceptance testing, and participate in agency certification audits
• Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
• Working knowledge of EMC/HAZLOC/Safety standards, including, but not limited to, CE, European HAZLOC standards (ATEX, IEC, etc.), North American HAZLOC standards, and other applicable international standards required for specific market access
• Proficiency in protection methods for electrical equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres with the ability to communicate these requirements to team members
• Experience with coordinating third party compliance testing with notarized bodies
• Experience interacting with customers and auditors during on-site factory acceptance testing or audits of existing certifications and products
• Taking ownership of tasks, a hands-on approach, and a strong attention to detail
