Job Description: 

The Vice President, Business Unit Manager will head our Thermal Process Management Business Unit and will be in the Charlotte, NC area. This position will be responsible for the Business Unit's full P&L with key responsibilities in managing functional leaders in Sales, Marketing, Aftermarket, Engineering, Operations, and Quality across the manufacturing sites around the world.

 

This role is responsible for all commercial, operational, supply chain, finance, human resources and organizational activities, as well as responsibility for the continued growth of the business.

Your Impact as the VP, Business Unit Manager: 

  • Manage global profit and loss of the business across the functions to drive expansion and growth in core and adjacent markets by developing growth plans, operational excellence initiatives, and motivating a high energy leadership team. 
  • Create and develop the annual Strategic Plan, Regional Operational Review, and the operating Budget
  • Collaborate with clients to analyze and address industry-specific O&G challenges, providing tailored engineering solutions to improve operational efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Find and secure markets and opportunities, as well as fully examine the current pipeline and portfolio to drive growth. There are significant opportunities for further growth of the business, both in the application of technology to markets, geographical expansion and in getting further ahead of the curve in new technologies and their application as well as M&A activity.
  • Lead the team to increase market share, focus on new business opportunities and leverage innovation and process capabilities.
  • Engage in both project-based and ongoing consultation efforts, supporting clients through every stage of their development cycle.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, technological innovations, and regulatory requirements, ensuring solutions are up-to-date and compliant with industry standards.
  • Achieve revenue and profit targets.
  • Develop and apply strong sales strategy, market expansion and key relationships.
  • Ensure effective product management to assist in driving market expansion.
  • Execute M&A plan.
  • Develop talent and maximize human capital.  Review and develop the leadership talent and ensure an effective succession plan is in place for the future.

Requirements for Consideration:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering/technical discipline, MBA or relevant advanced degree is strongly preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in a management position with full P&L responsibility in an engineered environment responsible for large projects $20M and above.
  • Proven experience in the Energy industry, especially with refineries.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-specific challenges, including production, extraction, refining, and distribution operations.
  • Must have managed a minimum of $100M in revenue with a proven track record of utilizing best-in-class lean and commercial methodologies for optimal business performance. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and provide innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Demonstrate the ability to think creatively and strategically to identify/integrate acquisitions and develop business opportunities with a bias for action and results.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% 
  • Must be a strong technology driven leader who can lead a diverse team in a challenging marketplace as well as able to inspire and drive technology innovation. 
  • Bring a balance or organizational savvy, people development, strategic planning while being able to go deep in answering technical questions.
