Job Description:
Job Summary:
Responsible for the setup, operation, and support of a wide range of manufacturing equipment used in the production of medical device components, including cases and trays, ensuring adherence to quality, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Obtain and apply information from work instructions, routers/travelers, and process sheets.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Set up and operate manufacturing equipment such as brake press, extruder, turret press, water jet, silkscreen, laser, and related machinery.
- Support production operations by assisting with material movement as needed.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to ensure quality output.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to verify conformance.
- Inspect finished parts for cosmetic and dimensional defects.
- Perform secondary operations such as deburring, polishing, cleaning, and preparation.
- Label, identify, and track product throughout production.
- Complete and maintain required documentation (travelers, inspection records, etc.).
- Escalate issues to leadership to help maintain productivity.
- Maintain clean and organized work area per 5S/6S standards.
- Assist with prototype builds and process improvements.
- Train other operators once proficient.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-marking, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
Education:
- Minimum: High School or GED
Experience:
- 1-3 years Manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
KSA's:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot multiple machines.
- Strong documentation and inspection skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-mix production environment.
Work Environment:
- Work performed in a production environment.
