Job Description: 

Job Summary:

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods. Utilizes knowledge of product design, materials, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Set-up and operates CNC machining centers according to specifications, applying knowledge of machining methods. 
•    Review and understand blueprints and job order for product specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances, tooling instructions and determines sequence of operations.
•    Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as gages, calipers, and micrometers
•    Troubleshoot problems associated with equipment, tooling, and processes and offer potential solutions to the problem.
•    Edit CNC programs as required to optimize processes based on established department procedures for process improvement.
•    Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes. 
•    Support Control Plan (CP) development, including inspection methodology, prevention controls, detection controls, reaction plans, inspection frequency rationale, and ongoing monitoring.
•    Recommend tooling and fixturing solutions.
•    Complete essential documentation as required.
•    Train, assist, and support employees in producing quality parts and in completing all process requirements.
•    Assist engineering & other production areas as needed.
•    Analyzes and plans work force utilization and workflow.
•    Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
•    Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production.
•    Communicates with customers in order to determine specifications of components and negotiate product design and process deliverables.
•    Leads project requirements checklists through justification and/or rationalization of activities associated with product launches.
•    Coordinate and lead launches of new processes including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
•    Leads quoting process.
•    Identifies excessive tooling costs, develop methods for cost reductions, and implements identified cost reductions.
•    Leads engineering test protocol development and reporting for process characterization and process testing.
•    Apply statistical methods and perform process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and improved efficiency. 
•    Designs and develops manufacturing processes in support of engineering for new products, and other in-house applications; i.e. gages, tooling, setup and work instructions, and fixtures.

Education:

  • Preferred    4 Year / Bachelors Degree    Engineering or related field.

Experience:

5+years CNC setup and machining

•    Proficient blue print reading and GD&T knowledge.

Work Environment:

•    Work performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
•    May be exposed to production floor environment. The noise level on the production floor can be loud.

Compensation

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $100,000
Salary Maximum:  $115,000
