DESIGN ENGINEER

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  Responsible for creating designs for Case & Tray delivery systems used in surgical procedures. This position will report to the NPI Design Engineering Lead while working in a cross-functional team environment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Responsible for the design and development of new products.
  • Generates and reviews 3D models and prints following standards, best practices, and DFM.
  • Analyzes and recommends improvements to existing products and functions as a primary technical resource within specific product groups.
  • Generates design concepts for new projects based on customer requirements.
  • Communicates and documents approvals, changes, delays, etc. as appropriate to supervisor, customers, project management, and commercial team.
  • May participate as a project team member, or may serve as leader of a multifunctional project team responsible for moderate to complex projects that align with the businss strategy.
  • Periodically provide technical advice, expertise, and support to other designers.
  • Travels for, but not limited to, training, departmental planning session, and customer support.
  • Ensures compliance with ISO, FDA, and regulatory bodies such as local regulations.

 

OCCASIONAL DUTIES: 

  • Support manufacturing process on an as-needed basis.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Once employee demonstrates competency in position, he/she may be required to train others in similar roles.

 

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:  Engineering Degree required (equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree). Two years’ experience in design/product development or related fields.

 

SKILLS: 

  • Knowledge of basic engineering principals, theories, concepts, and techniques to projects.
  • CAD modeling skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Creativity.
  • Ability to forecast and meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite.
  • Ability to work and contribute in a team-oriented, continuous improvement manufacturing environment.
