Job Description: 

Leads the activities of a group of assemblers and assists with the various assembly functions (assembly of various electro-mechanical components) within that cell.  Provides support to any cell within the department as determined by department supervisor. This position reports to the department supervisor.  Interact with and lead assemblers in a given cell.

 

What will you do:

  • Work under general direction of the Department Supervisor with minimum supervision.
  • Train and supervise assemblers in a cell atmosphere and assess their performance.
  • Motivate cell team members to maintain team and individual effort.
  • Complete paperwork required for Work Orders, Scrap Reports, Test Logs, Data Sheets, required by some customers, and any others deemed necessary.  
  • Ensure cells meet expected productivity standards and report areas that hinder it, on a timely basis. 
  • Plan and meet daily production schedule requirements with respect to material readiness and customer urgency to ensure on time delivery to customers.
  • Work with kitting and WH team on daily schedule plan, material shortages and material requisition.
  • Inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure conformity to specifications and quality standards.
  • Report all suspect material or process problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure that cell has the latest revision specification drawings, 00-motor assembly drawings and indented bills, process sheets and routers.
  • Assemble and test motors.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Set up assembly and test equipment.
  • Prepare finished work for shipment or storage as instructed or required.
  • Use computer to access Product Center to obtain prints and JD Edwards to verify ship date, routers and bill of material.
  • Maintain quality standards as established by company.
  • Follow standard practices and procedures as outlined by policy.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Maintain area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or required.

 

We are looking for:

  • Diploma or general education degree (GED); 2 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, specification drawings, 00-assembly drawings; read and interpret process sheets, routers and other written work instructions.
  • Must be able to use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and other measuring devices.

 

Additional Characteristics:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position required the ability to lift 20+ lbs. occasionally, 10-20 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly.
  • This position may require standing and/or sitting for long periods of time, up to 8 hours per day.
  • This position requires good manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • This position may be exposed to various industrial cleaning chemicals and oils.
