The Facilities & Maintenance Engineer is responsible for leading the department that manages building services, production equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance within the factory. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all machinery and facility systems through planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include minimizing downtime, managing spare parts and procurement, supervising technicians, and driving engineering projects that enhance performance and reduce costs. The engineer also supports documentation, reporting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet operational goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Job:
- Lead and manage the Facilities & Maintenance Department, including building services, mechanical & electrical (M&E) installations, and safety & health matters.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and company standards for factory facilities.
- Oversee maintenance and repair of building infrastructure including structural elements, utilities, and common areas.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance programs for building systems to ensure safety, reliability, and operational continuity.
- Coordinate improvement works related to building upgrades, renovations, and space utilization.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all production machines and facility equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Execute planned maintenance activities to uphold equipment reliability and quality standards.
- Investigate repetitive breakdowns and implement corrective actions to reduce unscheduled downtime.
- Document repair techniques, training materials, and troubleshooting guides to support technician development and machine uptime.
- Establish setup and conversion procedures to ensure consistent and efficient operations.
- Manage spare parts inventory to minimize machine downtime.
- Raise purchase requisitions, liaise with suppliers, and ensure timely delivery of parts and materials.
- Provide daily status updates to the Facilities & Maintenance Manager on procurement and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute improvement projects and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure all process changes, new designs, APQP and PPAP programs are controlled accordingly.
- Supervise facilities and maintenance technicians, providing guidance and support on engineering issues.
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly reports to local and international management teams.
- Plant Layout update from time to time, need to familiar with AutoCAD software
- Perform any other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the superior or company representatives.
Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering, preferably major in Mechanical Engineering.
- Min 6 years’ experience in managing Maintenance / Process Engineering.
- Knowledge in process or maintenance engineering, familiar with IATF16949, ISO9001, ISO14000, Safety & Health legislation and Local regulatory (DOSH, DOE, etc.) and with at least 6 years of working experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities is a MUST.
- Able to work independently with strong leadership qualities.
- Must be prepared to work outside of office hours from time to time.
- Be motivated to work well independently with minimum supervision.
- Disciplined and dynamic team player with a positive attitude.
- Understand the requirements of FMEA and SPC.
