Job Description: 
As a Technical Solutions Engineer, this role serves as a trusted technical advisor supporting customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders in identifying, developing, and implementing engineered solutions for complex scientific and industrial applications. The Technical Solutions Engineer combines strong technical expertise with customer-facing problem-solving capabilities to understand application requirements, recommend products and solutions, and support business growth initiatives. This position works closely with customers and cross-functional teams throughout the sales lifecycle, from initial consultation through proposal development, project execution, and order acquisition. The role offers the opportunity to support leading organizations in semiconductor manufacturing, advanced research, nanotechnology, life sciences, photonics, precision manufacturing, and other high-technology markets while contributing to innovative solutions and long-term customer success.
Responsibilities
The Technical Solutions Engineer will:
  • Serve as a technical resource for customer applications, providing guidance on engineered solutions and product capabilities.
  • Engage with domestic and international customers, research institutions, OEMs, and strategic accounts to understand technical requirements and business objectives.
  • Analyze customer specifications, application requirements, facility conditions, and performance expectations to recommend optimal solutions.
  • Support customer visits, virtual meetings, and technical discussions to evaluate applications and address technical challenges.
  • Develop technical proposals, quotations, presentations, and application recommendations.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to support opportunity development, customer engagement, and business growth initiatives.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Marketing teams to define product requirements and deliver effective customer solutions.
  • Support project coordination activities, including customer communications, order management, and scheduling updates.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, competitive activity, and customer needs to identify opportunities for product and market growth.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation, application notes, case studies, training materials, and customer-facing content.
  • Utilize Salesforce.com and other business systems to manage opportunities, maintain customer records, and support forecasting activities.
  • Analyze business and customer data to improve sales effectiveness, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and technologies to enhance productivity, proposal quality, responsiveness, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Deliver technical training and presentations to customers, channel partners, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on products, applications, and industry trends.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience and business performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related physical science discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in applications engineering, technical sales, systems engineering, product engineering, or a related customer-facing technical role.
  • Experience supporting complex capital equipment, scientific instrumentation, semiconductor equipment, precision manufacturing systems, or other high-technology products.
  • Strong engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, test data, and customer requirements.
  • Experience developing technical solutions for customer applications.
  • Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce.com.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical presentations and customer interactions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel approximately 15–25% domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with vibration isolation, precision motion control, metrology, microscopy, semiconductor manufacturing, optics, photonics, or advanced research environments.
  • Experience supporting engineered-to-order or custom technical solutions.
  • Experience with ERP systems and business analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and ability to coordinate cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience creating technical content, training materials, white papers, or application documentation.
