Job Title: Detector Process Engineer

The Detector Process Engineer will provide technical expertise to characterize, maintain, and improve germanium (Ge) detector manufacturing processes. This role will apply statistical process control techniques where applicable and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce process variation and enhance operational efficiency. The engineer will collaborate across teams to support production goals and ensure timely execution of projects under tight deadlines. This position reports to the Continuous Improvement Manager.
SAFETY

- Conduct equipment and process audits to identify and mitigate safety risks.
QUALITY
- Optimize and monitor performance of existing manufacturing processes and tools.
- Implement corrective actions based on audit findings and process failures.
- Develop and maintain accurate, traceable work instructions for production processes.
- Support quality assurance efforts by reducing process-related variation and improving consistency.
CULTURE & COMMUNICATION
- Lead continuous improvement projects including process design, validation, equipment specification, and installation.
- Collaborate with R&D engineers to transition new processes and products into manufacturing.
- Train and qualify technicians on updated processes and documentation.
- Communicate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to align priorities and resolve issues.
TECHNICAL EXECUTION
- Troubleshoot failures in detector systems and identify root causes.
- Develop and maintain work instructions and other process documents.
- Work closely with the Detector Manufacturing Manager, engineers, and technicians to resolve production issues.
- Apply statistical process control techniques to monitor and improve process stability.
- Maintain and enhance process documentation through digitalization and standardization.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- BS degree in Chemistry, Physics, or Electrical Engineering required; MS/PhD preferred.
- Four (4) to five (5) years of experience with semiconductor detectors and related manufacturing processes.
Technical Requirements:
- Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics and manufacturing workflows.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with process optimization and statistical analysis tools.
- Experience with Ge crystal growth and cleanroom environments is preferred but not required.
- The ideal candidate balances lean manufacturing principles with scientific depth in detector physics and materials science, enabling both operational efficiency and technical rigor.
