Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant supports the organization’s financial operations by performing key accounting duties that ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting. This role plays an essential part in the monthly close, account reconciliation, financial analysis, fixed asset tracking, and intercompany coordination. The Staff Accountant will also support internal controls, audits, and transactional processes while providing occasional backup coverage for AP and AR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform financial accounting responsibilities, including journal entries, analysis and review of financial statements. 
  • Complete Account Reconciliations and proactively investigate and resolve reconciling items
  • Complete supplemental reporting requirements in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
  • Manage fixed assets, including capital purchase tracking, capitalization of assets, depreciation accounting, asset disposals, and annual fixed asset audits
  • Provide backup for other members of the Finance Department, including Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
  • Support both internal and external audit requests (including SOX)
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and coordinate with other Ametek entities
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures 

 

Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting or Finance required
  • The Candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of progressive financial experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX, ASC 606 – experience with monthly/quarterly closings; experience with compliance and documentation
  • Knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems, Oracle and HFM background a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude
