Quality Inspector

Position Summary

The Quality Technician is responsible for performing visual, mechanical, dimensional, and functional inspections of electronic and mechanical components, assemblies, and final products. This role ensures compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and ISO 9001 standards. The technician plays a key role in First Article Inspections (FAI), in-process checks, and final inspections to support continuous quality improvement in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume manufacturing environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and finished products using mechanical and electronic tools.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and document results according to internal procedures and customer requirements.
  • Interpret and inspect to engineering drawings, purchase orders, and industry standards 
  • Record inspection results using digital tools and quality management systems.
  • Identify and report non-conformances and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards and support internal/external audits.
  • Use magnification tools and inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and multimeters.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized inspection area following 5S principles.

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Technical school diploma or equivalent industry experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in quality inspection within an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with IPC-A-610 standards is preferred.
  • Familiarity with First Articles Inspection, GD&T, and inspection documentation.
  • Skilled in using inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, multimeters, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Oracle, SAP or Materials transactions.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Operates in a production and warehouse environment.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
  • May require pushing carts with circuit boards and using magnification tools for extended periods.
