Job Description: 

Qualifications:

 

  • The candidate must possess a basic understanding of electrical components, mechanical concepts, and Lean manufacturing. He/She will provide support on the transfer of products and processes from US to Nuevo Laredo. The quality engineer will be responsible for generation of a strategic plan to improve the business processes and increase production output by reducing waste and defects. Duties include creating the company's quality standards and testing systems to reflect efficiency, reliability and performance. Quality engineers is also responsible for the creation of documentation that reports issues and errors relating to the production process with efforts placed to find a solution. This position will lead and support the certification of ISO9001 plant wide

 

 

Experience:

 

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in production & QA department
  • Oracle experience preferred or similar
  • With knowledge of FMEA, root cause analysis, Lean Six Sigma, and DFMA. ASQ and Lean Six Sigma training and certifications are a plus.
  • Experience working within and maintaining a recognized quality management system
  • Experience using the tools of inspection, auditing, and process control.
  • A working knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9001) and documenting work processes is a plus. 

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronic/ Industrial/ Mecatronic Engineering (or related field)
  • English/Spanish proficiency (writing and verbal)

 

Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for the day to day quality inspection and testing results.
  • Lead and support certification of ISO9001; QMS system implementation (QT9)
  • Ensure products and process are meeting the customer or internal specification.
  • Develop inspection methods to analyze product quality
  • Improve product quality by making recommendations for change
  • Work together with relevant teams and departments to improve products
  • Ensure products adhere to company and industry quality standards
  • Brainstorm ideas to create solutions for identified problems
  • Formulate a strategic plan to increase productivity in the business
  • Document results and findings after inspections are carried out
  • Implement a working system to ensure conformity and accuracy in the production process
  • Develop and maintain metrics to monitor process control and performance
  • Analyze design for potential improvements and initiate engineering changes
  • Document work processes and recommend process improvements
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Perform in-process, final, and pre-ship inspections of manufactured equipment
  • Coordinate and perform calibration of mechanical measurement and test equipment and administrate the calibration database
  • Administer and track UL equipment and interface with on-site inspectors
  • Maintain quality program procedures, instructions, workmanship standards and forms
  • Support a variety of in-house organizations in continual improvement, problem investigations, and documentation creation and maintenance.
