Position Summary
Quality Coordinator is a hands-on quality role focused on PCBA manufacturing, responsible for ensuring product quality throughout SMT, THT, and inspection processes. This position owns and validates AOI inspection activities, supports incoming, in-process, and outgoing inspections, and ensures compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements, IPC standards, and ISO 9001.
This role is floor-oriented, actively supporting production and acting as a key quality reference within the SMT and assembly areas in a high-mix electronics manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on quality inspections of PCBA at incoming, in‑process, and final (outgoing) stages.
- Execute Incoming Quality Inspections (IQC) for electronic components, bare PCBs, and related materials.
- Provide direct quality support within SMT and THT processes, including:
- Solder paste inspection support
- SMT line inspections
- THT and selective solder inspection
- Own, validate, and release AOI programs to ensure defect detection effectiveness and alignment with IPC and customer requirements.
- Analyze AOI results, identify false calls vs real defects, and coordinate continuous program improvements.
- Apply IPC‑A‑610 acceptance criteria during manual and automated inspections (certification preferred).
- Perform and document First Article Inspections (FAI) for new products, ECOs, and process changes.
- Conduct Outgoing / Final Inspections to ensure PCBA compliance prior to customer shipment.
- Maintain quality records using digital inspection forms, quality systems, and ERP tools.
- Collaborate daily with Production, Engineering, and Materials to resolve quality and process issues.
- Support internal, customer, and external audits, providing technical input and shop‑floor evidence.
- Enforce and support ESD control, workmanship standards, and 5S within inspection and production areas.
Qualifications
Education
- Technical degree or Engineering background (Electronics, Industrial, Mechatronics, or related), or equivalent hands‑on industry experience.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in electronics manufacturing quality(preferably), with strong focus on PCBA.
- Proven experience working directly on the SMT floor and assembly areas.
- Solid background in:
- Incoming Inspection (IQC)
- In‑Process Quality (SMT / THT)
- Outgoing / Final Inspection
- Experience supporting or owning AOI inspection systems.
- Technical Skills
- IPC‑A‑610 knowledge –(preferred).
- Strong understanding of SMT and through‑hole processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, schematics, and customer specs.
- Experience with AOI validation, defect classification, and program optimization.
- Skilled in use of inspection and measurement tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience using ERP/MES systems (Oracle, SAP, or equivalent) is a plus
