Job Summary
The Manufacturing Test Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining test systems and procedures to ensure the quality and functionality of electronic assemblies and products in a manufacturing environment. This role bridges design and production, ensuring that products meet performance and reliability standards before shipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate automated and manual test systems for PCBA and final product assemblies.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to define test requirements and strategies.
- Develop test plans, procedures, and documentation in compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Analyze test data, identify root causes of failures, and drive corrective actions.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) by developing test solutions aligned with production timelines.
- Maintain and improve existing test equipment and software to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure traceability and documentation of test results for audits and quality control.
- Train production staff on test procedures and troubleshoot test-related issues on the production floor.
- Project planning and management for test system development and implementation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or test engineering role.
- Proficiency in test development tools and languages (e.g., LabVIEW, Python, C/C++, TestStand).
- Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, ICT, FCT, and boundary scan tools.
- Strong understanding of electronics, schematics, and PCB layout.
- Familiarity with quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IPC-A-610, Six Sigma).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SMT and PCBA manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
- Familiarity with MES and ERP systems.
- Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or IPC certifications.
