Job Description: 

The Buyer/Planner is capable of planning and purchasing MRO and inventory materials. The buyer is responsible for ensuring parts or materials are available, plans changes for assigned units and coordinates into production when appropriate. The buyer will also provide other support to production and management as required.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

•            Assures that material will be delivered on schedule, at negotiated prices, and meets required quality standards.

•            Responsible for acting on order releases, action and exception messages from the system.

•            Responsible for the analysis of sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.

•            Responsible for the management of inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected items, to meet production schedules.

•            Orders floor stock with shelf-life material for production. Releases purchase orders for production material, floor stock items and all purchases to support the business unit.

•            Assist with locating component/ material shortages given by contract manufacturers and other suppliers as needed.

•            Performs or coordinates all activity relating to supply base management including request for quotations, PO processing, follow-up DMR's and CA's, and monitoring supplier performance metrics.

•            Receives and reviews purchase / sales orders against current requirements and work in process.

•            Processes termination or cancellation requests from Sales department.

•            Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, other purchasing department personnel and production managers on material status and production planning issues.

•            Assist in year-end inventory activities as needed.

•            Assist and support internal and external customers by providing status/ updates as needed.

•            Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

 

 

Requirements:

•            Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•            2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

•            Knowledge and experience with MS office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required and a working knowledge of Great Plains ERP software is a plus.

•            Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

•            Strong analytical and research skills.

•            Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

•            Ability to work as a self-starter and independently.

•            Ability to prioritize and multi-task.

•            APIC certification and/or Lean Manufacturing training is a plus.

•            Some technical knowledge of AMETEK products is a plus.

•            Fluency in English is preferred.

•            Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

•            Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

•            Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

•            Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10lbs.
