The Inside Sales Engineer plays a critical role in supporting United Electronic Industries’ (UEI’s) global sales efforts by combining technical expertise with consultative selling. This position partners closely with field sales, applications engineering, marketing, and customers to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and drive opportunities from initial engagement through close. The Inside Sales Engineer owns the end-to-end process from lead generation through triage and opportunity creation.
The ideal candidate is technically curious, comfortable engaging customers by phone, and motivated by helping customers solve complex technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify and engage new prospective customers through outbound calling, networking, referrals, and lead follow up.
- Respond promptly to inbound sales inquiries via phone and email, with a strong preference for live customer conversations.
- Qualify sales leads, understand customer requirements, and recommend appropriate UEI hardware and software solutions.
- Prepare, present, and follow up on quotations to advance opportunities through the sales pipeline.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to support repeat business and long term growth.
- Provide pre- and post-sales technical support via phone and email to help customers successfully deploy and optimize UEI systems.
- Support the field sales team with technical evaluations, applications discussions, and solution positioning.
- Collaborate with Applications Engineering and Engineering teams to resolve technical questions and sales related challenges.
- Accurately track all sales activity, customer interactions, and opportunity status in the CRM system.
- Assist field sales representatives with account targeting, appointment setting, and opportunity management.
- Participate in weekly sales calls, quarterly sales meetings, and ongoing sales strategy discussions.
- Submit weekly sales activity reports to the Director of Business Development & Strategy.
- Partner with Marketing / MarCom to identify market opportunities and support lead generation initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of sales presentations, technical materials, and product messaging.
- Attend trade shows, industry events, and company seminars; demonstrate UEI hardware and software solutions as needed.
- Support customer training opportunities both onsite and at UEI facilities.
- Assist in coordinating and administering technical training programs for new employees and co op students.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and professional work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline, or equivalent technical experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in engineering, applications, or technical role.
- Experience in data acquisition (DAQ), embedded control, test & measurement, or related technologies.
- Ability to travel approximately 20-25%
- Ability to commute to our facility in Norwood, MA 5 days / week.
- Due to the nature of UEI's programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience in aerospace, space, and/or defense industry.
- Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Prior experience supporting sales or customer-facing technical roles.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and structured sales processes.
- Demonstrated ability to balance technical problem-solving with sales execution.
