Job Title: Manufacturing Test Engineer

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Manufacturing Test Engineer to join our small team. This role acts as a vital bridge between Engineering and Operations, supporting the successful introduction and ongoing testing of new products. You will play a key role in ensuring robust test processes, improving yield and effciency, and mentoring production/engineering teams to enhance their technical capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to support new Product Introductions (NPIs), ensuring test specifications are clear, effieicent and yield-optimised
- review and refine NPI documentation to support smooth transition into manufacturing
- Identify and implement improvements to test processes post-release to enhance throughput and reduce waste
- Mentor Production Test technicians and Engineers in running test scripts, identifying failure modes, and debugging issues
- Provide hands-on support for test and debug activities during peak demand periods
- Own and manage a range of test equipment, ensuring availability, calibration, and refurbishment as needed
- Analyse test data (eg. via SAP) to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cross-training
- Maintain and upgrade environmental stress screening (ESS) ovens and other test infrastructure
- Participate iin continuous improvement events, including Kaizan activities
Additional Responsibilities
- Support the test team and debug activities as needed
- Assist in developing the technical capabilities of the Operations test team
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as required
Skills and Experience required
- Demonstrable experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of production test procedures and debugging down to componenet level
- Familiarity with technologies such as VME, PCI, VPX, PCle, Ethernet, SATA and 1553
- Proficient inusing and troubleshooting test software including TestStand and JTAG
- Ability to interpret and improve engineering documentation for operational efficiency
- Clear and confident communicator across cross-functional teams
- Working knowledge of SAP and MS Office applications
- Basic understanding of IT Infrastructure and its impact on test systems
- Proven ability to work to deadline and manage multiple priorities
Education and Qualifications
- Degree, HND or HNC in Electronics or a related discipline
