Job Description: 

The Field Application Engineer acts as a technical liaison between Abaco and its customers, providing technical support, and guidance to ensure successful integration of products and solutions, often working on-site and collaborating with sales and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

•         Responsible for understanding the customer’s needs, specifications, and expectations, and translating them into technical requirements for the developer. 

•         Work through all phases of customer interaction including customer analysis, design implementation and product manufacturing including long term technical support.

•         Assist in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications.

•         Be a resource to sales and customer service to ensure customers are ordering the most appropriate products.

•         Implement detailed customer installation plans.

•         Involved in the testing, installing, and troubleshooting of the products or systems, and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.

•         Provide training, documentation, and after-sales support to the customer to further enhance user experience with the Abaco products.

•         Contribute to business intelligence – gather field information about market trends and competitive offerings; provide feedback to marketing on programs and products.

•         Act as a bridge between customers and R&D, making recommendations to the engineering team to satisfy requests and develop solutions.

•         Generate ideas for software products that innovate and fill gaps in the current markets in which we operate.

•         Ensure that customer (and supplier) relationships are well managed.

 

Education and Experience

•         Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

•         Minimum 3 years of experience in Systems Engineering/Hardware and Software Integration.

•         Demonstrable practical experience in the Embedded Systems industry.

•         Familiarity with VxWorks, Linux, and other leading Real-Time Operating system software.

•         Some experience with C/C++ programming language.

•         Excellent HW/SW problem-solving skills and ability to see “The Big Picture”.

•         Adequate understanding of the analog and RF circuits and electrical engineering fundamentals.

•         Strong understanding of the sales process.

•         Strong technical/practical background desired in the Embedded systems industry, spanning open architecture computer platforms, including but not limited to SOSA, MOSA,VME, VPX, CPCI, PCIe, Networking, Graphics, Signal Processing, FPGA, PowerPC and Intel architectures.

•         Experience of coding and software modification beneficial.

•         Strong interpersonal and communication skills with internal/external customers. Ability to effectively present technical information in a clear and concise manner.

•         Team player, self-starter, highly motivated individual.

•         Highly organized and able to multitask; coupled with strong analytical ability, attention to detail will be instrumental to success
