The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the overall performance of the distribution center, including receiving, shipping, warehousing, inventory control, and material handling operations. This role provides day‑to‑day leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant warehouse operations while delivering a high level of internal and external customer satisfaction. The Warehouse Supervisor plays a key role in achieving departmental goals and resolving operational and personnel issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, training, and guidance across all warehouse functions, including shipping, receiving, warehousing, cycle counting, and material handling, ensuring compliance with company policies, equipment standards, and software systems.
- Plan, coordinate, and optimize resources, including space, materials, equipment, and labor to meet daily receiving, stocking, and shipping requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Customer Service leadership on domestic and export shipments, proactively identifying, communicating, and resolving issues that may impact customer satisfaction.
- Establish and track performance metrics related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee morale; identify and implement process improvements to drive operational excellence.
- Build and maintain effective supplier partnerships to optimize cost, quality, and service levels for materials and services supporting warehouse operations.
- Supervise and support warehouse staff in accordance with the IBEW collective bargaining agreement and company HR policies.
- Foster a positive, solution‑oriented team environment in a fast‑paced operational setting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations, or a technical discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of warehousing or distribution experience, including 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong working knowledge of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehousing operations.
- Proven critical‑thinking skills with the ability to constructively challenge assumptions and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office applications, and shipping software such as UPS WorldShip or equivalent.
- Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to stay positive under pressure, resolve customer issues effectively, and consistently motivate and energize teams.
- Experience working in an FDA‑regulated environment (21 CFR Part 820) preferred.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma (DMAIC) and Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.
- Knowledge of the FDA Unique Device Identification (UDI) System preferred.
- Union experience is a plus.
