Position Summary:

The US Accelerated Laboratory Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accelerated weathering laboratory. This role ensures efficient workflow, high-quality standards, and excellent customer service. The manager will train staff, prepare work schedules, and coordinate tasks to maintain a productive and safe working environment. Additionally, the manager will handle client interactions, manage sample receipt and shipping, and ensure accurate and timely reporting of test results.

 

Key Responsiblities:

  • Customer Service: Maintain a friendly, efficient, and positive attitude toward customers, clients, and co-workers. Be responsive to customer needs.
  • Staff Management: Train staff in their duties, assign and coordinate work to promote efficient operations, and ensure all direct reports are trained and proficient in their job requirements. Complete yearly performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Workflow Management: Prepare work schedules and determine procedures to ensure efficient workflow. Ensure monthly workload is completed prior to month-end billing.
  • Revenue Reporting: Provide weekly revenue forecasts and actual revenue to the DVP.
  • Client Interaction: Host and facilitate client visits and site tours as needed.
  • Sample Handling: Assist with the receipt and shipping of test samples. Prepare specimens for exposure according to client requirements.
  • Order Management: Set up new orders and log specimens into the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
  • Specimen Evaluation: Retrieve, evaluate, and return specimens for testing according to industry standards and client specifications. Perform washes and measure optical properties using appropriate equipment.
  • Instrument Monitoring: Monitor instruments through verification and standardization as needed.
  • Reporting: Generate, approve, and sign off on client reports.
  • Field Inspections: Perform visual field inspections and washes, submit data, and communicate industry standards and test results to clients.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain product and service quality standards, conduct evaluations, investigate complaints, and initiate corrective actions. Support interlaboratory studies and the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety systems and training programs, comply with OSHA and other regulations, and maintain compliance with company standards. Maintain all records and reports to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lab Maintenance: Train the team in and maintain the lab according to 5S methodology.
  • Additional Duties: Perform all other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements for Considertion:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Science or Engineering related field.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with demonstrated knowledge and experience in weathering processes and industry standards.
  • Experience managing multiple department functions including budgeting, operations, customer service, and quality.
  • Previous work-related experiences that represent knowledge related to evaluation standards and quality standards such as ASTM, ISO, AATCC, SAE, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Experience managing quality systems such as ISO 17025.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other software applications necessary for day-to-day and ongoing site operations.
  • High level of visual acuity, and ability to differentiate color, light, and texture changes.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to maintain a safe working environment and adhere to established safety protocols.

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $100,000
Salary Maximum:  $130,000
Incentive:  No
