Job Description: 

 

Reporting to the Director of Operations, as a member of the Operations team the Mechanical Engineering Intern will support manufacturing operations by assisting with mechanical design, equipment support, and process improvement initiatives. This role exists to help stabilize and improve manufacturing processes, support production equipment and fixtures, and increase throughput while maintaining Rauland’s safety and quality standards.

 

Hours/Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the design, modification, and documentation of mechanical fixtures, tooling, and equipment used in manufacturing and assembly operations (30%)
  • Support troubleshooting and improvement of mechanical equipment in Final Assembly, PCB, and Plastics areas (20%)
  • Define and document mechanical processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (15%)
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives including waste reduction, 5S, and product flow improvements (15%)
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities and equipment reliability improvements (10%)
  • Collect and analyze data to support process improvement and corrective actions (10%)

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering or related bachelor’s degree program (minimum one year completed).
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior engineering internship or co-op experience.
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment, preventative maintenance, or CAD tools.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts.

Employee Type:  Hourly
Salary Minimum:  $45,000
Salary Maximum:  $55,000
