Job Description: 

Position Summary:

Atlas Material Testing Technology LLC is seeking a highly organized and technically skilled Laboratory Technician to support operations in our Accelerated Laboratory. This role involves hands-on testing, data collection, and direct client interaction to ensure the highest standards of material performance evaluation. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Project Management & Client Communication
    • Serve as primary contact for assigned accounts, managing scheduling, testing, reporting, and direct communication with clients.
    • Communicate industry standards, test results, and any changes in evaluations to clients clearly and professionally.
  • Sample & Test Management
    • Set up new orders and log specimens into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
    • Evaluate specimens at designated intervals per industry standards and client specifications.
    • Perform washes and measure gloss, distinctness of image (DOI), color, haze, and other optical properties using appropriate equipment.
    • Photograph samples with high detail and troubleshoot imaging issues as needed.
  • Instrumentation & Data Integrity
    • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments including Xenon Arc, UV, and corrosion test chambers.
    • Monitor instruments through daily verification and standardization per specifications and company policy.
    • Record, analyze, and report test data with precision and accuracy.
    • Generate client reports and ensure timely delivery.
  • Quality & Safety
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
    • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality control procedures.
    • Support development and validation of new testing protocols.
  • General Duties
    • Perform all other related duties as assigned to support laboratory operations.

 

Requirements for Consideration:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a laboratory or testing environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, and other materials testing standards.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with technical equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and laboratory data systems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Must have a high level of visual acuity and be able to differentiate color, light, and texture changes.
  • Must be able to lift samples and equipment (up to 40 lbs).
  • Ability to withstand extended standing or walking during sample preparation and testing.

 

Compensation

Employee Type:  Hourly
Salary Minimum:  $40,000
Salary Maximum:  $55,000
Incentive:  No
