Job Description:
- Lead the global procurement strategy that is both standardized and customized where appropriate to serve the sourcing needs of Ametek’s MCT division.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of Direct and Indirect Material Productivity projects to drive improved cost performance. Regularly review and align existing controls and governance with globally defined processes.
- Direct, oversee and coordinate AMETEK’s MCT Division purchasing functions. Develop and implement policies related to the procurement of goods and services; with special emphasis on cost reduction via strategic procurement with international focus.
- Collaborate with engineering, program management, manufacturing, and quality teams to identify and qualify new suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships to support the successful launch of new products.
- Act as a liaison between the global sourcing organization, business unit engineering teams, and other stakeholders to deliver significant material cost-out.
- Work closely with regions and businesses to manage sourcing and risk for the supply base, supporting both current and new product development.
- Resolve supplier issues and support footprint rationalization efforts by working with plant and operations leadership, including plant start-ups and closures.
- Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement supply chain strategies for new product introductions, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing, procurement, and delivery of materials.
- Ensure early sourcing engagement in new product introductions and VAVE by aligning advanced sourcing with category strategies and collaborating with strategic suppliers for timely and quality launches.
- Partner with regions and functional excellence teams to lead price increase initiatives and establish tariff modeling and goals.
- Drive a Global Supplier Development Strategy and manage quality and performance of the main suppliers
- Monitor and plan coverage of all assigned supplier shortages, WIP shortages, and process all applicable engineering changes and expedite orders as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, business, engineering and/or related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 15 years of procurement/supply chain related experience. Engineering/technology product development and VAVE experience is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading people directly and through influence.
- Experience in a mix of high volume/low variation and low volume/high specification manufacturing environments is beneficial.
- Require proficiency understanding manufacturing routings, bill of materials, and drawings.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as Navision or SAP Systems will be desired
- Experience in handling global/diverse stakeholders, and a team of approximately 50 employees in multiple regions.
- Experience of working cross functional teams in leading large-scale initiatives.
- Significant experience purchasing varied product families, such as: electronic components, fabricated items, and MRO items expected.
- Planning or Purchasing Certifications in addition to educational background viewed as a plus.
Technical knowledge
- The ideal candidate must be an experienced and highly professional supply chain executive possessing a track record of success throughout his/her career and broad capability across all organizational functions.
- Good combination of strategic vision and an effective interpersonal style and “hands-on” approach to support all business units as needed.
Position criteria
- Strong understanding in the launch of new products and VAVE in the market including working with other functions such as marketing, Sourcing and Manufacturing.
- Project Management experience: This leader should have a proven track record of successful project management and be familiar with all aspects of the project life cycle.
- Interpersonal skills, the ability to work with a wide variety of personalities, are a primary prerequisite of this position.
- Overnight and international travel required.
- Demonstrated leadership influence and effectiveness in a global setting.
