Job Description: 

The Global Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Director will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing Altas’ Supply Chain related activities.  The position will direct all strategic sourcing activities related to the procurement of a commodity from intent through delivery.  The role will also schedule, coordinate, and closely monitor all production activity for the manufacturing team and optimize the inventory control processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies, processes, and metrics to establish a world-class purchasing and production planning organization.
  • Lead, hire, and develop the procurement team to achieve strategic objectives within a continuous improvement environment.
  • Initiate and lead the global Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process.
  • Analyze and optimize the supplier base to meet current and future material and service needs.
  • Direct all procurement activities, including supplier evaluation, site audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor spending trends, cost drivers, market dynamics, and geographic considerations to implement effective sourcing strategies and deliver cost savings above inflation.
  • Develop and manage performance metrics, including external benchmarks, aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Own accountability for material spend, cost reduction, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
  • Oversee processes for supplier contracts, qualification, and engineering change approvals.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical purchasing practices and all regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support sourcing strategies for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Manage departmental operating and capital budgets.
  • Stay current on industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and market conditions.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain leadership within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven track record managing global spend (>$20M) and delivering sustained cost savings above inflation in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong expertise in supplier strategy, negotiations, and global supplier development, including low-cost region sourcing.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience building and developing high-performing teams and driving change in a continuous improvement environment (Lean/Six Sigma).
  • Strong business and analytical acumen, including ERP systems knowledge; experience on ERP implementation projects is a plus.
