POSITION SUMMARY
The Controller has the task of making sure there are no errors on the company’s financial statements for the Components & Wire Business Unit. In addition, active participation is required in the budget and forecasting process, and the management of working capital. Supporting the business unit team in generating accurate weekly forecasts, budgets, metrics, KPIs, and a focus on cost management is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Validates and analyzes cost of goods sold, bill of material and routings
- Ensure standard costs are accurate
- Perform variance analysis for work order variance, purchase price variance, and revaluation
- Audits workflow to ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with industry standards.
- Coordinates the activities of multiple functions involved in the preparation of BU forecasts, budgeting, and reviewing manufacturing performance.
- Establishes budgetary control systems and monitors compliance to budget and monthly forecasts.
- Work with Production on KPIs and Engineering on Capex to provide monthly reports
- Work with the Production team on inventory control and managing the cycle count program. Publish cycle count statistics.
- Analysis of excess & obsolete inventory on a quarterly basis – communicate to senior management any changes in reserves required.
- Preparation of financial statements and generate summary reports.
- Handles personally or supervises general ledger reconciliations.
- Ensures compliance with all internal controls.
- Trains staff on proper company procedures.
- Assists BU Controller with a variety of tasks as needed.
- Reviews monthly closing processes to prevent errors.
- Reconciles trial balances to corporate office financials.
REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Atleast five years relevant cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Advanced proficiency in Excel required
- Ability to understand manufacturing environment and associated financial processes such as efficiency and absorption
- Possesses strong leadership, supervisory and management abilities.
- Has excellent critical thinking as well as analytical skills.
- Exhibits strong computer skills and demonstrates extensive knowledge of financial software programs and their interface within the manufacturing environment.
- This role interacts with all levels of management throughout the company.
- On a regular basis coordination of information between Sites, Business Units and executives which requires excellent communication skills
