What will you do?
You will be responsible for assisting in and directing the investigation and resolution of quality-related supplier, production, manufacturing, and design-related problems. You will act as the customer’s advocate when customers have detected quality problems. You may be assigned to specific product line(s) for focused product and project support.
On any given day, your responsibilities would include:
- Responding to day-to-day design, production, and customer quality issues related to production lines.
- Resolving production problems associated with process errors, non-conforming parts, and design problems.
- Interfacing with all aspects of Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Product and Sustaining Engineering, and Production Inventory Control in the performance of assigned tasks.
- Monitoring self-release of products and first article inspections as required.
- Assisting with the application and monitoring of established inspection procedures and methods. Compiling, tabulating and summarizing data for analysis and preparing and offering constructive input relative to variables and deviations from prescribed standards of quality.
- Managing internal and external supplier audits and corrective action system including compliance verifications, documentation, and follow-up.
- Reviewing manufacturing instructions for completeness, correctness, and comprehension by assembly personnel.
- Auditing processes performed by assembly personnel relative to methods, tools, and ability to follow manufacturing instructions.
- Assisting in ensuring that quality assurance specifications are met by engineering, manufacturing, and other involved functions.
- Utilizing MRP/ERP software for data collection and incident resolution.
- Conducting laboratory evaluations and analsyses, preparing reports, and making recommendations.
- Maintaining all quality mandated statistical systems.
- Maintaining records of investigation and resolution in accordance with Company procedures.
- Reviewing, supporting, and completing RMA's, including root cause analysis, developing corrective action, and turnaround in an efficient and timely manner.
You are a great fit if you have the following skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field (ME, EE, IE) or equivalent
- 3-5 years minimum experience in a manufacturing environment, experience with electromechanical devices a strong positive
- Proficiency in reading and understanding various technical documents such as blueprints, material specification sheets, etc.
- Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 standards
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts, problems, and ideas to various levels within the organization
- Broad knowledge in materials and material evaluation
- Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools - DMAIC problem solving, PPAP, DFMEA, DOE, SPC, GR&R, CPk, etc.
- Competency using simple and complex mechanical instruments (e.g. drop gauge, force gauge, calipers, and indicators)
- Working knowledge of common industry specifications, standards, and handbooks
