What will you do?
You will support the development, documentation, release, and ongoing maintenance of standard and customer-specific Kerk motion control products. This position coordinates prototype and NPI projects, creates and maintains engineering documentation, supports Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and works closely with Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Applications Engineering, and Design Engineering teams. This role also serves as a key liaison between Kerk manufacturing operations and Applications Engineering teams, helping ensure technical inquiries, manufacturability feedback, and engineering information are communicated accurately and in a timely manner.

 

On any given day, your responsibilities would include:

  • Coordinating prototype, sample, and NPI projects from order receipt through shipment, ensuring materials, schedules, and documentation are properly managed.
  • Serving as a liaison between Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Applications Engineering to facilitate timely communication of technical information, manufacturability feedback, and product-related inquiries.
  • Creating, revising, and maintaining engineering drawings, specifications, product configurations, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Performing engineering activities required to support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), including preparation of supporting documentation, implementation of engineering changes, participation in review activities, and monitoring changes through approval and release.
  • Maintaining engineering documentation and revision-controlled records within PDM and related business systems.
  • Supporting Manufacturing Engineering with troubleshooting production issues, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and engineering changes related to product and process improvements.
  • Coordinating or performing inspections and validation activities on prototype and sample products to verify conformance to engineering requirements.
  • Providing technical support for prototype builds, new product introductions, and production implementation activities.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, lead time, and engineering process effectiveness.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

 

You are a great fit if you have the following knowledge and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, electrical, mechatronics, or related engineering discipline).
  • 2-5 years of engineering, manufacturing, product development, or technical project support experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting custom-engineered, engineered-to-order, or configure-to-order products preferred.
  • Experience supporting low-to-medium volume manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of precision motion control products, electromechanical assemblies, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD system.
  • Experience working with product lifecycle management (PLM) or product data management (PDM) systems; ProductCenter experience preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems; Microsoft Dynamics NAV experience preferred.
  • Understanding of engineering change management and document control practices.
  • Basic machining experience preferred.
  • Proficient in performing basic inspections using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and comparators.
  • Experience operating or supporting CNC equipment preferred.
  • Experience working with molding processes or molding equipment preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
