We are looking for the right individual to join our team as a Material Handler. This exciting role involves supporting shipping and production operations through receiving, stocking, inventory control, and shipping activities. The ideal candidate will assist in both shipping departments as needed, verify and keep records of incoming and outgoing shipments, and receive, unpack, and deliver materials to appropriate departments. Prepare product and other materials for shipment.

 

What will you do?
On any given day, your responsibilities would include:

  • Receiving incoming materials and verifying quantities against packing slips or purchase orders
  • Putting away stock in designated locations, ensuring proper labeling, organization, and inventory accuracy
  • Delivering materials and stock to appropriate departments to support production needs
  • Picking stock according to job orders or work instructions with a high level of accuracy
  • Maintaining inventory control through cycle counting and inventory audits; investigating and resolving discrepancies
  • Preparing and packing pallets for shipment, ensuring proper protection and secure loading
  • Completing shipping documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading, and required paperwork
  • Coordinating and arranging shipping transportation with designated carriers or service providers
  • Managing oil room inventory, including handling of barrels and proper disposal of waste in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines
  • Operating forklift and other material handling equipment safely, as needed
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and safe work and storage areas
  • Following procedures for handling chemical materials as outlined in the Hazard Communication plan.
  • Following all safety regulations including proper lifting and movement of packages.
  • All other duties as required and assigned by supervisor.

 

You are a great fit if you have the following:

  • High school degree or GED
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a shipping manufacturing environment with experience using UPS and FedEx software in addition to international shipping preferred
  • Experience with various software including Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with lean practices and problem solving
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
