We are currently seeking an Engineering Intern – Manufacturing & Quality for our Milford, NH facility. As an intern, you will support both manufacturing engineering and quality functions by working alongside senior engineering staff on real, value added projects that directly impact product quality, process efficiency, and overall business performance. This internship provides hands on exposure to manufacturing processes, quality systems, and continuous improvement practices within a fast paced manufacturing environment. You will gain real world experience and knowledge related to various metal and plastic machining processes, as well as gain real world knowledge and experience with plastic injection molding and the use of common measuring tools and measurement techniques. The knowledge and experience gained will directly translate to almost any manufacturing operation you would enter as your career advances.
The position will be full-time for the summer break. Ideal candidates would have the ability to work part-time during the school year if desired.
What will you do?
- Work directly with a senior engineer to design, document and validate products and processes.
- Execute and complete improvement ideas originating from operations employees.
- Assist senior engineers and managers with daily engineering tasks.
- Work on projects with senior engineers and managers.
- Perform and observe manufacturing operations for analysis.
- Assist in developing engineering documentation and write standardized work to help develop our lean management system.
- Create charts, templates, and Value Stream Maps for standard and clear communication of information.
- Assist with inspection, data collection, and analyzing data.
- Assist with research and development.
- Support in administrative tasks such as data entry and collection.
- Present to peers, leaders, and upper management as needed.
What are we looking for?
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Quality Engineering.
- Good math skills and mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, and e-mail to communicate effectively.
- Familiarity with Quality Management systems and ISO standards preferred.
- Demonstrated technical writing experience (procedures, work instructions) preferred.
- Solidworks or other CAD software experience desired.
