The team is looking for a results-oriented Sr. Precision Assembly Technician for our GPI manufacturing team. The position will be based in Middlefield, CT.
As a Sr. Precision Assembly Technician you will assemble and align laser interferometer systems and subassemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
Accountable for the day-to-day manufacturing activities, which include but are not limited to:
- Assemble and align laser interferometer systems and subassemblies to exacting specifications.
- Perform functional and optical testing of interferometers using precision metrology tools.
- Follow detailed manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Maintain cleanroom protocols and ensure contamination control during all assembly processes.
- Collaborate with engineering to support process development, validation, and continuous improvement.
- Accurately document work performed and maintain traceability of components and assemblies.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.
- Maintain required training certifications and adhere to safety and quality policies.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing operations, preferred involving precision optical or laser-based instruments.
- Proficiency with manufacturing documentation such as Bills of Materials (BOMs), routers, shop orders, and production metrics.
- Demonstrated experience working in a Clean Room environment (ISO Class 7 or better preferred).
- Strong familiarity with interferometry principles and optical alignment techniques.
- Experience with laser system assembly, optical testing, and troubleshooting.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including BOMs, schematics, and optical layouts.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail for handling delicate optical components.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and manage shifting priorities.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and communication.
- Capable of lifting up to 20 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Solid mathematical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
