Job Description: 

As a Sr. Manager, EHS & Facilities for Zygo Navitar, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing comprehensive EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and our corporate standards. You will also have managerial responsibility for an experienced Facilities Management team at the Middlefield site.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hazardous Waste Management
    • Oversee hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal in compliance with regulatory requirements.•    Conduct routine area inspections and lead emergency response activities.
  • Wastewater Management
    • Manage sampling programs, review analytical reports, and ensure accurate electronic discharge monitoring reporting (eDMR).
    • Maintain compliance with all environmental permits and reporting obligations.
  • Air Quality Management
    • Monitor and maintain compliance with air quality permits and emission standards.
    • Oversee reporting and corrective actions for any deviations.
  • Safety Program Administration
    • Develop, implement, and maintain key safety procedures and programs.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Contractor Oversight
    • Manage third-party contractors performing crane and hoist inspections, fire safety equipment inspections, and other critical safety services.
  • Corporate Sustainability & Compliance
    • Support AMETEK’s sustainability initiatives, including energy reduction, waste minimization, and environmental stewardship programs.
    • Monitor and report progress toward corporate sustainability goals.
  • Multi-Site EHS Leadership
    • Provide oversight and guidance for EHS programs at all Zygo sites in the U.S. and Canada.
    • Ensure consistency in compliance, reporting, and safety culture across locations.
  • Safety Supplies Management
    • Maintain adequate stock of safety supplies within manufacturing operations to support compliance and emergency preparedness.
  • Leadership & Reporting
    • Chair monthly Zygo Safety Committee meetings to drive engagement and continuous improvement.
    • Maintain and execute a comprehensive safety training calendar for all employees.
    • Prepare and submit monthly EHS performance reports to AMETEK Corporate EHS.
  • Project Management
    • Oversee Zygo’s facility upgrades, construction projects, and sustainability initiatives.
    • Budgeting and cost control for EHS and facilities programs.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated, technical expertise in hazardous waste, wastewater management, air quality, and safety systems.•    Proficiency with OSHA, EPA, and state environmental regulations.
  • Experience managing sustainability programs and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Change management and leadership practices that foster a culture of safety and sustainability across all Zygo Navitar sites in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Collaborative, with ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence organizational culture.
  • Pragmatic and practical, meticulous, and able to effectively prioritize.
  • Initiative-taking communicator who has a bias for action.
  • Able to set expectations, rules and processes and drive accountability across the entire organization and at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical, and problem-solving skills.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICIATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and contractor management.•    Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar credentials.
  • Laser Safety Officer (LSO) certification or equivalent experience in laser safety.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Familiarity with electronic reporting systems for environmental compliance.
