The Operational Excellence and Business Analytics Engineer is an exciting new position stationed at the Zygo world headquarters, an opportunity for an energetic and creative individual to significantly impact Zygo’s culture and performance. The OpEx/BA Engineer will collaborate with other leaders to improve processes in an industry-leading, highly technical business. This role is equal parts lean transformation and targeted improvement projects as both strategies will affect profit growth and hard cost savings. Simultaneously, the role will support Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) analysis, capacity analysis and simulations, and other KPI analyses. This OpEx/BA position is for a data-driven, focused, and inspired individual ready to make substantial and measurable change in a leading-edge business and ever-advancing optics and optical metrology industries.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Lead OpEx project and Kaizen event teams to drive improvements in capacity, productivity, cost savings, and line balancing while using applicable company systems and Lean/SixSigma tools.
  • Analyze business data and provide impactful visualization and dashboards; clearly communicate complex data in a simple form to non-technical audience.
  • Implement and advance Lean Transformation initiatives, including visual performance metrics at all tiers and business segments. (VSM, SQDIP, 6S, Gemba, LSW, Standard Work, Strategy Deployment, TPM, SMED, 3P Cell Design, Pull & Flow systems, etc.)
  • Supply, Interpret, and analyze data for all Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP), forecast, forecast error, forecast error bias, supply & demand management, capacity analysis, WIP variances, and various operational KPIs and dashboards.
  • Coach and mentor project leaders and Kaizen facilitators; Support Continuous Improvement projects with OpEx tools. Develop high-potential peers into effective OpEx “Change Agents” to expand OpEx deployment effectiveness.
  • Support ERP system usage and data extraction including evaluation of proposed changes and implementation of system upgrades.
  • Track and analyze project/Kaizen metrics and OpEx deployment metrics. Calculate and report financial impact results from OpEx efforts while sustaining improvements.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts; nurture a problem-solving culture with training and guidance.
  • Design and deliver OpEx training; Refine and manage an OpEx training Roadmap.

 

What You Will Bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, finance, computer science; a degree in industrial engineering preferred.
  • 3-5+ years working in operations, manufacturing, or supply chain; project management experience preferred (PMP certification a plus)
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and process skills - gathering and interpreting data around operations / business requirements.
  • Lean manufacturing experience with the ability to lead Kaizen, and 6S events; Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • Your ability to collaborate and partner across functions to solve problems and drive success.
  • Conceptual understanding of the principles and operations of ERP/MRP systems and the integration of company functions – Microsoft NAV a significant plus. Understanding and evaluation of the contents and calculations on the MRP (supply vs. demand) display or report.
  • Software proficiency: a combination of PowerBI, Minitab, Quality Management Systems, Microsoft o365; all the above preferred.
  • Knowledge of capacity requirements planning (CRP); Detailed CRP knowledge (work centers, labor and machines, routings, setup times, run, standards and move times) a plus.
  • Your analytical, data-based and planful approach to problem-solving
  • A bias for action and drive to achieve.
  • A collaborative, interpersonal style that can both ensure accountability and motivate others.
  • Ability to manage change and drive solutions with a customer-focused approach.
  • Willingness to travel 10-15% as needed.
