As a Metrology Technician, in Middlefield, CT you will be responsible for performing in-process and final measurements on a variety of optical surfaces and ultra-precision optical components.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Test and measure the surfaces of high-quality optics and optical assemblies.
- Set-up and utilize software to interface with metrology instruments.
- Select, mount, and configure tooling to set-up instruments for testing.
- Perform precise calibrations on instruments and tooling to facilitate critical measurements.
- Actively communicate/collaborate with other opticians, technicians and engineers to ensure measurements are accurate and correct.
- Communicate, document and maintain records to contribute to documentation of best practices, knowledge transfer, process efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Use and navigate computer file structures to save and organize collected data.
- Maintain an organized and clean workspace.
- Follow released procedures describing how to perform necessary actions.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- High School Diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of hands-on production manufacturing/operations experience, or a working knowledge of one or more: mechanics, order of operations processes, computers or applications.
- Enjoy hands-on work and take pride in craftmanship.
- Solid mathematical aptitude, and ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, written specifications, and verbal instructions.
- Excellent manual dexterity, patience and persistence, organized and detail-oriented to handle delicate optical components.
- Conscientious team player who focuses on problem-solving and collaboration
- Ability to take initiative, to be flexible/adaptable with shifting priorities, and to remain resilient when faced with challenges.
- Computer skills (Windows 10/11) for data entry, documentation, and communication.
- Capable to lift and move up to 20 pounds.
- Driven to achieve with a commitment to quality with a safety-first.
