As a Manufacturing Engineering Technician, in Middlefield CT, you will work with manufacturing engineering to develop new products, support sustaining activities on existing products, test Zygo’s products, Optical Elements and Optical Accessories to verify conformance to specifications and performance requirements, acting as a key liaison between engineering and production.
Key Responsibilities:

Support New Product Introduction and sustaining activities for mature products

Identify areas of improvements including procedures or tools to improve productivity & provide feedback to Engineers

Utilize Software tools & procedures to assemble & test optical products

Document assembly procedures, test procedures, and failures (provide feedback to production team to help drive manufacturing process improvements)

Enforce quality control to reduce waste through focused and unbiased adherence to assembly & test requirements

Work with Manufacturing Engineers to implement updates/changes

Participate in Continuous Improvement Projects

Communicate with Engineering to ensure timely resolution of roadblocks

Demonstrate aptitude to learn and develop relevant knowledge areas
Key Requirements:

High School or Trade School diploma; Associate degree preferred

Experience working in a fast-paced production environment

Experience working in a test lab with software tools. handling of optical parts and assemblies

Ability to read blueprints, procedures, and test requirements

Communication and influence skills that foster collaborative work across functions

Training will be provided on Zygo test systems and processes. Optical products include Zygo’s world-class Interferometers, Profilers & Accessories. Optical Elements can be Spherical or Plano, or a combination of the two. Product development, sustaining support, and Metrology at Zygo take time and precision to enable sensitive nanometer level measurements. All testing is done using Fizeau interferometers, optical profilers, and other instrumentation. This position also requires the ability to use Software to analyze and interpret data to ensure its accuracy and reliability.
