As a Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing innovative solutions for optical and opto-mechanical systems. You will work independently and collaboratively to create comprehensive, economical designs that meet manufacturing, assembly, and testing requirements. Your contributions will ensure the highest quality and accuracy in design outputs, supporting Zygo’s commitment to excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize designs for advanced optical metrology instruments and ultra-precise optical components
  • Work independently on design projects, establishing product structures that meet manufacturing, assembly, and testing requirements
  • Create solid models of complex, multi-level assemblies and ensure FEA, interference, and tolerance analyses are complete
  • Recommend materials and assembly methods, performing necessary calculations in compliance with engineering standards
  • Design and drafting. Proficent in creating complex 2D CAD drawings

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • 3–5 years of related work experience in design engineering.
  • Experience in solid modeling and knowledge of standard drafting practices, GD&T, and configuration control.
  • SolidWorks experience; exposure to optical/opto-mechanical design concepts is a plus.
