Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for developing, documenting, implementing, and optimizing production processes in both machine shop and electro-mechanical assembly environments. Will collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality leaders to identify focus areas and prioritize projects to achieve the most efficient and cost-effective production methods to produce the highest quality product possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project & Program Leadership Lead manufacturing engineering projects and NPI initiatives, demonstrating strong leadership, collaboration, and innovation. Manage timelines and deliverables for complex programs.
- Process Optimization & Troubleshooting Analyze and resolve production bottlenecks. Implement tooling, equipment, and process improvements to enhance yield, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Manufacturing Engineering Support Provide technical expertise for design reviews, product validation, Change Review Board activities, and make/buy analysis. Ensure design for manufacturability and smooth product transitions.
- Continuous Improvement & Lean Practices Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement methodologies. Drive operational excellence and waste reduction initiatives.
- Advanced Technology Integration Promote adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies, including automation, collaborative robotics, additive manufacturing (3D printing), and digital manufacturing tools.
- Cost Analysis & Capital Equipment Justification Prepare cost estimates for new products and changes. Evaluate, select, and justify capital equipment investments to support strategic objectives.
- Documentation & Standards Develop and maintain accurate manufacturing documentation, routings, labor standards, and work instructions. Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration Interface with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to resolve issues, improve manufacturability, and support shop floor activities.
- Team Development & Leadership Mentor junior engineers and technicians. Provide guidance, delegate tasks effectively, and foster a high-performance team environment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, etc)
- Experience: 5–10 years in electro-mechanical manufacturing engineering, including NPI and complex project management.
- Technical Expertise: CAD/CAM proficiency (SolidWorks or similar), ERP/MRP systems, and familiarity with automation and robotics.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a methodical approach to resolving operational issues.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills; ability to deliver technical reports and presentations across organizational levels.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, motivate others, and manage priorities under pressure.
